Most Accessible Inauguration Thanks To Internet

Obama is using the Internet to include everyone in his historical Inauguration week that has been surrounded by lofty expectations and has evoked the same historical awe that JFK's "Ask not what your country can do for you..." inauguration speech did in the '60's.

Thanks to the Web, everyone will be able to watch history take place. Via his weekly YouTube address, Obama has given the entire nation access to the Inaugural week and has provided ways for everyone to participate.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee has created an official Obama Inaugural YouTube Group and has posted various videos in anticipation for tomorrow.  By signing up to become a YouTube member, you can join the PIC group and comment on videos or post your own.

By texting "open" to 56333, you will receive news, transportaion updates and other ways you can participate.  On the evening of the inauguration, there will be a neighborhood inaugural ball being webcasted on the Internet with updates from the ballroom.  On the Presidential Inaugural Committee website, pic2009.org, there is a place where users can organize their own neighborhood balls and an official inaugural book to upload pictures of the historic moment.

The PIC has also created a Flickr account and will be posting pictures of the event there. A Twitter account set up to follow events and to post news. The Twitter account will be a raw news source, mostly citizen journalists covering the event.  CNN has teamed up with Facebook so that users can update their facebook status while watching the Inauguration live-streaming at CNN.com Live.

He also announced a new social-networking site website, USAService.org, created by his Inaugural committee as place for online community organizing. You can find an event to attend in your area by texting SERVICE to 56333 for more information.  Today marks a National Day of Service, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   To be a part of the national day of service, you can go to USAService.org, you can connect with people and groups in your community and people in everyone corner of the nation to renew America.
