John Edwards To Pod Cast
Well it’s official, the former U.S. senator and VP hopeful (and possible 2008 presidential candidate) is set to be the first real deal politician-podcaster.
I first learned of the news from Amy Gahran, who tells of how this all came to pass here. It's actually pretty interesting.
It is also interesting that the first two political podcasters (Donnie Fowler and John Edwards) are S.C. natives who are both Democrats and both lost while running for a high ranking position. It’s also been rumored they can both put a hurtin’ on a Ryan’s buffet line. Pretty freaky I know.

I don't know if you would consider me a real-deal politician, but I would like to point out that I have been doing a podcast for a few months now and I am running for Congress in 2006. Also, I don't think that Donnie had an actual RSS feed that you could subscribe to, so I'm not sure he completely got it, but I am glad to see politicans embracing this. It will be interesting to see if they are just recorded press releases or honest conversations.
Keep up the good work!

Just to follow up on this - Edwards released his podcast this morning, and it was great. It was honest, not a press release in podcast form. It was him and his wife, and he used the phrases "RSS feed" and "blogosphere" and knew what they meant, and Elizabeth used the term "snail mail". Edwards even messed up a word and started over by issuing a rather excellent raspberry sound. They talked easily and intelligently about current issues, joked with each other and got distracted by kids and basketball scores. I was incredibly impressed with the candor and honesty - this is where politics is going and I couldn't be more excited.

Scott,
I took a look at your web site and that's pretty cool what you are doing with your campaign. Best of luck with your effort.
Also, for the record, Donnie Fowler DID have an RSS/XML feed. The page is at: http://www.changetheparty.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=42
The RSS feed was active when he was podcasting, but it's currently not live as it was hosted by a volunteer.
